• Account information: name, email address, phone number, password (stored securely, hashed), and role (customer, vendor owner/staff, admin).
• Vendor & store information: store name, business details, identification/verification documents, and Store Slot billing history.
• Order & transaction information: products purchased, delivery address, order status, and payment status.
• Payment information: payment method type (e.g. Mobile Money, card), transaction references, and amounts. Full card numbers and mobile money PINs are handled directly by our licensed payment providers and are not stored on our servers.
• Support & communications: messages, tickets, and attachments you send us via Support, WhatsApp, or email.
• Usage & device data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and similar technical data collected automatically to help operate and secure the Platform.

• To create and manage your account and authenticate logins;
• To process Orders, payments, deliveries, returns, and refunds;
• To bill, verify, and communicate Store Slot fees and payment status to Vendors, and to suspend or restore store listings accordingly;
• To provide customer and vendor support and respond to enquiries or tickets;
• To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
• To send transactional notifications (e.g. order confirmations, delivery updates, payment reminders) and, where you have consented, marketing communications; and
• To comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations in Ghana.

Customer Orders and Vendor Store Slot fees are processed through licensed third-party payment providers supporting MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, Visa, Mastercard, and bank transfer. These providers process the sensitive parts of each transaction (e.g. PINs, card numbers) under their own security and privacy standards; we receive and store only the transaction outcome, reference, and amount needed to reconcile Orders and Store Slot billing.

• With Vendors: Customer name, delivery address, and order contents are shared with the relevant Vendor(s) to fulfil an Order.
• With delivery partners: the information necessary to collect and deliver an Order.
• With payment providers: the information necessary to process Order payments and Store Slot billing.
• For legal reasons: where required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BlackButterflyMarket, our users, or the public.
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, and understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some Platform features.

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, tax, accounting, dispute-resolution, and fraud-prevention obligations, including retaining Order and Store Slot billing records as required by Ghanaian law.

We apply technical and organizational safeguards, including password hashing, access controls, and encrypted connections, to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we encourage you to keep your account credentials confidential.

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of Ghana, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent for marketing communications. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and some data may need to be retained where required by law (for example, completed Order and payment records).

The Platform is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated via the Platform or the email address on your account, along with an updated effective date.
